Bus Trips and Excursions

Enjoy Christmas in Old Salem on December 10

We are excited to announce the next installment in the Ray and Nancy Dietz Travel Series – a day-long excursion on Saturday, December 10 to Old Salem for their annual celebration of Moravian traditions throughout the historic town. We’ll leave the Reynolds Homestead around 8:15 a.m., with a pick up in Stuart at Lowe’s Foods at approximately 8:45; arriving in Old Salem between 10:00 and 10:30. We have the Footsteps through History Tour scheduled and reservations for lunch, but the rest of the day will be on your own to shop, eat, visit and just enjoy yourselves! We’ll meet up again at 5:15 for the short program of carol singing and the lighting of the Christmas Pyramid before heading back. What a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season with a friend, spouse, or just on your own!

The cost of the trip is only $50.00 and that includes the full day-long ticket to enjoy every event going on and transportation to and from; your only cost will be lunch at the Tavern and any shopping you might want to do.

Below are links for the flyer, registration form and bus waiver. You may certainly call to book and pay for your trip, but we must have all forms returned to the Reynolds Homestead no later than Friday, December 2.

Do Some Christmas Shopping at the Green Valley Book Fair
December 17

We’re excited to announce another special bus trip for December, a day trip to the Green Valley Book Fair in Mt. Crawford, VA. We will depart from Reynolds Homestead at 8 am with a bathroom stop in Roanoke. We’ll arrive at the Book Fair around 11:30 am and spend the afternoon perusing the wide selection of books offered. Lunch will be on your own at the book fair! We’ll gather to leave the book fair at 3pm and head to the Shenandoah Heritage Market, an old fashioned country market where we will wander the 20+ locally owned and operated shops featuring food, antiques and gifts. We’ll meet back up at 5pm to Mrs. Rowe’s for a delicious country cooking buffet dinner.

The cost is $40 per person and includes transportation to and from and a buffet dinner. Following dinner we’ll make our way back to Reynolds Homestead, arriving between 9:30pm-10pm. Lunch at the book fair and any purchases you’d like to make will be your only expenses.

The book fair is holding a Holiday Food Drive during our visit, bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and receive a $2 Green Valley Book Fair coupon as a thank you! Limit one coupon per family.

Please find below the link to the flyer, registration and bus waiver. Please call to make soft reservation and all payment and forms must be completed and returned by December 7th.
