Mary Joyce Reynolds Lybrook

Mary Joyce was the oldest of the 16 Reynolds children, born Jan. 10, 1844.

In November 1857, she entered the Salem Female Academy in Salem, North Carolina, where she completed a two-year course. In August 1859, she entered Danville Female College.

In March 1867, she married Andrew Murray Lybrook, an 1852 graduate of Emory & Henry College and a former officer in the Confederate army. Lybrook was a lawyer, county judge, and member of the Virginia State Senate as one of the original members of the Readjusters Party.

Mary had five sons and three daughters. She died on Jan. 30, 1888 at 44 years old.
